'Air Monfils': Star's insane 'shot of the year' stuns tennis world

French star Gael Monfils has produced a potential shot of the year candidate with an insane forehand that had the crowd on their feet.

The Frenchman lost the first set 6-1 at the Madrid Open, but had the break in the second at 5-3.

In teh closing stages of the second set, Fucsovics brought Monfils to the net with a nice drop shot.

Monfils chipped the drop shot back, but was immediately on the back foot as Fucsovics lobbed the ball back into the corner.

But the entertaining Frenchman reached the ball and launched himself into the air before squatting the ball right back past his opponent at the net.

The flat squash like strike raised the fans to their feet as Monfils embraced the moment.

Many on social media were in awe of the freaky forehand.
