Warrant issued for Liam Jurrah's arrest

An arrest warrant has been issued for former Melbourne AFL player Liam Jurrah.

The 24-year-old failed to appear in an Adelaide court on Tuesday morning to face charges including assault and drink driving.

The assault and drink-driving charges are separate to charges relating to an alleged machete attack outside Alice Springs in March last year.

When Jurrah didn't show for two hours after his court time, Magistrate Joanne Tracey issued a warrant for his arrest, ruling that police bail should be excluded.

Jurrah played 36 games for the Demons between 2009 and 2012, capturing plenty of fans with his spectacular play.

He was cut from Melbourne's list at the end of the 2012 season.

He has recently been training with Port Adelaide, but the Power decided against drafting him late last year.
