North Melbourne key forward Lachlan Hansen is set to sign a new deal with the club, but small forward Matt Campbell looks to be on his way out after requesting a trade.

Hansen, who enjoyed his best season of AFL football this year, is out of contract and has attracted interest from a number of other clubs during the trade period.

But in a live chat on North Melbourne's website, football manager Donald McDonald confirmed the number three draft pick is set to put pen to paper on a two-year contract.

"Lachie's keen to stay, which is great, and I went (and) saw him on Sunday with his partner Prue," McDonald said.

"It's just a case of finalising the negotiations and hopefully we will be in a position to announce something shortly."

Campbell, who still has a year to run on his contract, appears to have played his last game for the Roos with McDonald confirming they are looking at finalising a trade for the 25-year-old.

"Matty is looking for a new home. Both Matt and the club have agreed this is the best path forward," McDonald said.

"Like the other players, we will have to wait until the trade period is over before we confirm anything."

Campbell was involved in an incident at Crown Casino in September where he was arrested by police after allegedly damaging a parked car.

Campbell's request to leave the club follows on from Cruize Garlett's decision to look for a new team and McDonald said they had received a bit of interest on the 23-year-old midfielder.

The club is also in ongoing discussions with Geelong about ruckman Hamish McIntosh, as well as Melbourne in regards to Cameron Pedersen.

Meanwhile, McDonald confirmed the Kangaroos are interested in securing the services of Gold Coast ruckman Tom Hickey and Port Adelaide defender Ben Jacobs.
