Veteran midfielder Heath Scotland has won his first club best and fairest, picking up Carlton's John Nicholls Medal on Tuesday night.

Scotland claimed the award with 362 votes, overtaking livewire Eddie Betts (353 votes) in the final match of the season.

Skipper Chris Judd (334) finished third despite missing five games, followed by Brock McLean (321), who was absent for eight of the opening nine rounds.

Marc Murphy, who missed six matches with a shoulder injury, was fifth with 299 votes.

Scotland polled 17 votes in the Round 23 match against St Kilda, pipping Betts, who was awarded just three.

Under the voting system, five members of the Carlton match committee independently submit their votes after each round.

Scotland, who will play under former coach Mick Malthouse next season, has played 191 games for the Blues since joining from Collingwood at the end of 2003.

right no one will remember collingwood making the finals in 2012 but WE ALL will remember how Carlton didnt and that they were only making up the numbers in the bottom eight and what they did to their coach and that the useless brain dead morons at #$%$ park still are trying to buy premierships as opposed to earning them. Good job bluegirls beating the suns to make the finals lol

Melbourne does not need an east-west link, nor a rail tunnel. Drop it. And drop daylight shuffling, too.

being named best and fairest at Carlton is certainly no accolade to be proud of or has boasting rights. This coming from a side that lacked conviction, could not even show any pride for its disposed of coach in winning the last game, lost to the suns and port Adelaide and at the end of the day was only making up the numbers........in the bottom eight
