North Melbourne are hopeful key midfielder Daniel Wells will only miss one match with his calf injury, while Nathan Grima will be sidelined for two.

Both players were injured in the Roos' gutsy 24-point win over Essendon on Sunday.

Wells was hurt in the first quarter and played no further part in the match, while Grima hobbled off with a hamstring complaint, believed to be tendonitis, late in the final term.

The duo will miss this weekend's clash against Collingwood, but the club's medical staff are hopeful Wells will return for next week's crucial match against Fremantle.

Grima is expected to come back for the Round 23 clash against Greater Western Sydney.

Leigh Adams also suffered an injury during the first quarter with the club confirming he will have a shoulder reconstruction on Friday and play no further part this season.

But the Roos will be boosted this week by the return of Jack Ziebell and Lindsay Thomas, who are both available for selection following their suspensions.
