Big names back for Blues

Carlton coach Brett Ratten says Andrew Walker and Mitch Robinson will play 'for sure' against Brisbane after three weeks out with injury.

The Blues sit two wins outside the AFL's top eight with four matches to go and cannot afford to lose another game if they are to pull off a late push for the finals.

Speaking on Wednesday, Ratten confirmed Walker and Robinson, who both injured calf muscles in Carlton's Round 16 loss to North Melbourne, will play against Brisbane on Saturday night, while claiming Robert Warnock could also return from a shoulder injury.

"Walker and Robinson will come in and we'll have a look at Warnock as well," Ratten said.

"He looks like he could be right.

"So that could give us maybe Kreuzer in the forward line or something like that.

"(Michael) Jamison won't play, so we'll have to find a replacement there," Ratten added, referring to a hamstring injury that will keep the Blues key defender out for two mates.

"Watson might be an option for us as well."

Carlton opted to give both Walker and Robinson an extra week's rest, instead of playing them against Sydney, but Ratten has conceded the Blues cannot wait any longer.

"When you think of the season and where it's at, I think these selections and any selection that you make is about risk versus reward when they're coming back from injury," Ratten said.

Walker has barely played for four weeks, after he hurt his calf just minutes into the Blues' clash with the Kangaroos last month.

But Ratten remains confident the 26-year-old has the natural fitness to get through Saturday night's game.

"His fitness has never been an issue," Ratten said.

"He's one of the athletes that will get through or at least play 85 percent.

"So I think we could manage his time to make sure that he gets through the least fatigued as possible so that doesn't hurt him for the following week."
