Essendon small forward Leroy Jetta will miss the Bombers' clash with Greater Western Sydney after his striking ban was upheld by the AFL tribunal on Tuesday night.

The Bombers rolled the dice after Jetta was offered a one-match suspension for a level-two striking offence against Richmond defender Dylan Grimes in last Saturday night's Dreamtime at the 'G game.

The tribunal upheld the charge in a hearing that lasted less than 20 minutes, but Jetta's one-game penalty was not increased, meaning he will only miss Essendon's clash against the Giants at Skoda Stadium on Saturday night.

Earlier on Tuesday the 23-year-old speedster accepted a reprimand for staging for a free kick in the same match.

Jetta received only light contact from Tiger Steve Morris after a goal on Saturday night but dived to the ground to simulate greater force. He becomes the first nabbed in the crackdown against staging this season.
