Farmer paints cows in unique Tigers tribute

Everyone has their own way of celebrating their footy team's triumph.

Aussie icon Molly Meldrum's brick fence is well known for its murals.

When the Bulldogs won the AFL flag last year, Footscray was awash with red, white and blue houses and timber fences, and even the Town Hall got involved.

Dederang farmers Glen and Corey Barton went for a very unique option: their cows.

But how did it come about?

"I think a few too many beers at the pub Saturday night," Corey tells 7 News.

"It was dad's idea at first. We were with a heap of mates and thought we'll paint some cows! So Sunday morning we got out the paint cans and yeah, gave 'em a paint job!"

The cows are now emblazoned with the famous yellow sash of the Richmond footy club, but the Bartons didn't stop there.

They've even got numbers. From the No.4 of Dustin Martin to the No.18 of Alex Rance, most of the Tigers' stars are there.

Corey's favourite? "No.4 of course, it has to be Dusty!"

But the spur-of-the-moment did have some drawbacks.

Firstly, they had to touch the cows up after some rain last night.

"They're looking today," Corey says.

But secondly, and more importantly, 'Dusty' is missing his Brownlow Medal.

With a hint of regret, Corey reveals why: "I didn't have the right coloured paint!"
