Tigers end 35-year wait to reach grand final

Richmond have ended a 35-year hoodoo to defeat GWS at the MCG and reach an AFL grand final against the Adelaide Crows.

The Tigers broke the game open with a sublime six-goal third quarter before the final siren declared a 15.13 (103) to 9.13 (67).

But while Monday was set to be a celebration with Dustin Martin's likely Brownlow Medal victory, Richmond now wait to discover if inspirational captain Trent Cotchin will be available for the grand final.

Cotchin caught Giants midfielder Dylan Shiel high early in the game, with Shiel eventually failing a concussion test after originally playing on following the hit.

Livewire forward Daniel Rioli booted a career-high four goals as the majority-Tigers crowd of 94,258 cheered every move the yellow and black made.
