Dangerfield fires first sledge back at Adelaide

Patrick Dangerfield has directed his first sledge at the Crows as the Cats prepare to face his former team in next week's preliminary final.

Geelong produced a masterclass to defeat Sydney at the MCG last night and set up a spicy clash with Adelaide.

Crows forward Josh Jenkins -- no stranger to a bit of sledging -- spoke out against his ex-teammate prior to the Cats' win over the Swans.

“If he marches into town with his Geelong teammates, there’d be nothing better than beating him and reminding him that perhaps he should have stuck around with us and he could be a Brownlow medallist and a premiership player,” Jenkins said on Fox Sports.

Dangerfield was well aware of those comments and used his 'Roaming Brian' takeover to strike his first blow.

Interviewing Steven Motlop about his epic chase-down tackle and the win, Motlop ended an answer by saying he was already looking ahead to facing Adelaide.

We'll let Dangerfield take over from here...

PD: "Do you like Adelaide as a place?"

SM: "Uh, I don't mind it. I go there a fair bit to visit my brother."

PD: "Yeah, it's not that good."

The man chooses his words carefully and knows exactly what he's doing.

There may also be another backdrop to that little conversation: Port Adelaide's reported interest in Motlop.

Motlop's contract with the Cats expires at the end of the season, with Power coach and former Geelong assistant Ken Hinkley apparently keen to sign the enigmatic star.
