Casboult speaks on unsolved contract situation

Carlton free agent Levi Casboult says he has no intention of negotiating a new contract until the end of the season.

A host of rival clubs are attempting to lure the hulking forward on million-dollar deals.

Casboult's stocks are rising, and his manager Anthony McConville was spotted visiting the club.

McConville told the Blues talks are off for now.

"We've got a few things to talk about but the plan is to sort through it after the last game," Casboult told Channel 7.

The situation is complicated.

Carlton want Casboult but don't want to pay a lot of money; they would prefer to splash the cash on a forward such as Gold Coast co-captain Tom Lynch, who is unavailable.

In a game of cat and mouse, Casboult's banking on other clubs who might pay more than the Blues.

Key forwards are rare, and the free agent has kicked 33 goals this sesaon.

"I've just tried to focus on my footy and left the other side to my manager," he said.

"So I'm just looking forward to playing this week and we'll sort the rest out later."

It is understood Casboult, 27, wants three or four years on any new deal.

Richmond, Collingwood and Fremantle just some of the clubs in desperate need of a backup key forward.
