'Worst pain of my life': Betts on emergency surgery drama

Adelaide Crows forward Eddie Betts has opened up about the excruciating pain that saw him rushed to hospital on Sunday night.

Betts was hospitalised after suffering a burst appendix, and says he's extremely lucky to have avoided further serious illness.

"My wife says it's probably the most pain she's ever seen me in," Betts told 7News on Tuesday.

"I've never felt that pain before so I'm glad it's over now."

The Adelaide forward will miss this Sunday's game against Collingwood after having his appendix removed.

"It will be with the doctors of course but provided he recovers well, hopefully it will be just one (game)," assistant coach Matthew Clarke told reporters on Monday.

"There was no sign of it post-match but Sunday he was sore in the tummy and doctors got him in quickly.

"It's a significant out, obviously he's a sensational small forward."

The ladder-leading Crows are also assessing scans on the fractured cheekbone of midfielder Brad Crouch, who wants to play against the Pies at the MCG on Sunday.

Defender Jake Lever is tipped to return from a one-match absence because of a hamstring strain as the Crows guard against any letdown after their stirring win against the Cats.
