Cotchin escapes with fine, three players banned

Trent Cotchin has escaped with a fine for his latest gut punch, while Tim Membrey, Easton Wood and Levi Greenwood have copped suspensions for their respective strikes.

Richmond captain Cotchin punched St Kilda's Jack Lonie during the Tigers' loss to the Saints on Saturday night.

He is now one classifiable offence away from a suspension.

He collected the Richmond defender's head with his elbow, forcing him out of the game after half-time.

An early plea will reduce the three-game penalty for careless conduct with high impact to the head down to two.

Collingwood midfielder Levi Greenwood can accept one game for clashing with Essendon's Zach Merrett in an attempted shepherd.

The veteran's attempted hip-and-shoulder went awry when his arm slipped up towards Merrett's jaw, sending the smaller man to the turf before a dozen players engaged in a melee.

Greenwood's two-match sanction for careless conduct with medium impact to the head can be reduced to one with an early plea.

Western Bulldogs defender Easton Wood has also been suspended for one game for intentionally striking Adelaide's Mitch McGovern.

Wood earned the ban after collecting three fines for similar offences.

Fines were also issued to Taylor Walker, Luke Hodge, Drew Petrie and Robbie Tarrant.

Adelaide skipper Walker was charged with misconduct for pushing the Bulldogs' Jason Johannisen into the goal post:
