No punch bans again as MRP hands out fines

The AFL match review panel has declined to suspend Zak Jones for punches thrown in Sydney's loss to Hawthorn on Friday night.

Jones has been hit with a $1500 fine - up from $1000 because it was his second offence of the season - after his strike on Luke Breust was deemed to be intentional and low impact.

The midfielder escaped punishment for a punch to the back of another Hawks player.

The panel's decision came on the back of AFL football boss Simon Lethlean's comments last week that punches would not be tolerated.

Swans defender Grundy was fined $1000 for his elbow to Hawthorn's Luke Hodge, with the panel deciding it was also intentional and low impact.

Dayne Beams, Taylor Adams, Ryan Clarke and Jack Steven were other players fined by the match review panel.
