Bomber goals after miracle mid-tackle snap

James Stewart has warmed up for the AFL season proper with an absolutely ridiculous goal in Essendon's pre-season clash with Gold Coast.

The Bombers man scooped up a hand-pass in a congested area just to the side of the Suns goal, but looked for all money like he was going to be tackled out of bounds.

But in one final act of desperation before being hurled to the ground, Stewart swung a left boot to the ball - more out of hope than anything else.

He had relatively no angle to work with but somehow the sweetly struck snap went straight between the posts for the unlikeliest of goals.

"Miraculous! How did he kick that?" Brenton Speed exclaimed in commentary.

Stewart's goal saw the Bombers jump to a 24-point lead in the first quarter of their JLT Series clash, before the Suns staged a fightback to lead by four points at three quarter time.
