Giants enter the race for Kurt Tippett

The Kurt Tippett trade saga has taken another twist, with Greater Western Sydney confirming they are ready to do a deal if discussions between Adelaide and Sydney fall through.

Earlier this month, Tippett confirmed the Swans as his club of choice after deciding against a contract extension with the Crows.

But talks between the Crows and the Swans have stalled with the premiers apparently not willing to give up one of their premiership stars in exchange for the 25-year-old key forward.

With the two clubs in a deadlock, the Giants are ready to pounce.

"The Crows certainly know we've got some interest in him," Giants list manager Stephen Silvagni told News Limited.

"Where it stands at the minute is the Crows are in discussions with the Swans.

"They're trying to get the deal done.

"We've inquired about Kurt Tippett to Adelaide and if the Swans deal falls through we're around."

It is understood the Crows are demanding more than Sydney’s highest draft pick, No.22, in exchange for Tippett.

That means the Giants, who have picks 1, 2, 3, 12 and 13 in the draft, is a far more attractive party for the Crows to deal with.

Silvagni confirmed that the Giants all but their No.1 pick is on the trade table.

"Other than the No.1 pick, which we certainly want to hold, the other picks are up for trade if something worthwhile came across the table," Silvagni said.

"When you're giving up those sorts of picks you are obviously looking for a quality player. We'd be looking at a key position type.

"If you are giving up a high pick, you want that sort of player to be at your club for seven or eight years."
