Scotland 'guilty' of assault

Carlton best-and-fairest winner Heath Scotland has pleaded guilty to assault from an incident in New South Wales in January.

At a hearing in Albury, Scotland pleaded guilty to one charge of assault causing actual bodily harm, while another charge of common assault was withdrawn.

The 32-year-old was charged following his involvement in a brawl at the Mulwala Ski Club in the early hours of the morning on January 29.

Police alleged Scotland 'king-hit' another man, which left him unconscious. Scotland later told club officials he stepped in to help his brother.

He is likely to face a club-imposed ban when the case is resolved.

Scotland's brother, Brett, pleaded guilty to one count of violent disorder and was convicted and fined $600.
