Scans have revealed Sydney midfielder Jude Bolton's knee injury is not as bad as first thought, with the veteran set to miss two to three weeks.
The 32-year-old was substituted in the third quarter of Sydney's 22-point win against Carlton at Etihad Stadium on Sunday and spent the final term with his left knee heavily iced after hyper-extending it as he tried to kick across his body.
The ominous-looking incident led to fears that Bolton, who has played 297 AFL matches, could have seriously injured his knee.
But Bolton revealed on Twitter on Monday that scans had been encouraging.
"Good result with the scan - thanks for all the messages of support!" Bolton tweeted.
"Should only miss 2-3 weeks. Will help cheer the boys on vs Coll (Collingwood)!"
Bolton has enjoyed an impressive season, averaging 21 disposals per match.
