Dockers star left 'furious' after trade falls through

Fremantle star Brad Hill is reportedly ‘furious’ after a trade from the Dockers to St Kilda fell through.

The speedy wingman was supposedly set to be sent to Moorabin for a package involving pick 6 in the upcoming AFL Draft, but negotiations broke down amid reports the Dockers had asked for an additional first round pick in compensation.

Both teams are now at odds after St Kilda traded pick 6 to the GWS Giants for picks 12 and 18.

Speaking during a trade period update on Channel 9, The Age’s Peter Ryan said Hill was less than impressed the deal fell through.

“It left Fremantle in a state of shock because they were presuming that the pick 6 was definitely going to be a part of any Brad Hill deal and they basically called St Kilda's bluff when they got wind that (St Kilda) might be dealing with GWS for picks 12 and 18," he said.

“It left Fremantle hoping to hang onto a player that doesn't want to be there.

“Brad Hill is furious that the trade didn't get done yesterday and he's still got two years left on his contract.”

Former Essendon champion Matthew Lloyd accused Dockers boss Peter Bell of being ‘unreasonable’ with the terms of the trade, which he believed ultimately torpedoed the deal.

“Peter Bell reportedly asked for Pick 6, next year’s first-round pick and a third-rounder,” Lloyd said on AFL Trade Radio.

“Surely he is being unreasonable there.”

Crows coaching cleanout continues

Adelaide head of football Brett Burton and senior assistant coach Scott Camporeale have both been sacked by the Crows following the completion of a review into the AFL club's football department.

Commissioned off the back of two poor seasons since the Crows' appearance in the 2017 AFL grand final, the assessment found no "single issue" responsible for the downturn but "a series of events or issues that, despite a number of attempts, could not be sufficiently addressed".

Senior coach Don Pyke and captain Taylor Walker stepped down before the process got underway, with a new coach to be appointed within the week
