Gary Ablett caught red-handed clipping Suns rival

Gary Ablett has found himself clipping another opponent high just weeks after facing scrutiny for two head-high elbows in as many rounds.

The Geelong superstar came up against his old club Gold Coast on Saturday night, receiving some boos from the 13,144 in attendance at Metricon Stadium.

Frustrations boiled over for Ablett late in the third quarter when the 35-year-old engaged in a push-and-shove with Anthony Miles.

Ablett appeared to miss with an open-palm swing but he quickly collected Miles with what may have been a closed fist to the throat.

With an umpire watching the entire situation unfold, a free kick was paid against Ablett.

“I told you to calm down, mate,” the official told the two-time Brownlow medallist.

An alternate angle showed the impact caught Miles flush on the jaw.

“Just undisciplined. I’m obviously disappointed with it, but just a free kick,” Ablett said on Fox Sports.

He has escaped suspension for his previous indiscretions this season.

Geelong went on to win 13.13 (91) to 9.10 (64) in Chris Scott’s 200th game in charge.

Tom Hawkins kicked four goals and Mitch Duncan popped up with three of his own.

The Cats remain a game clear of Collingwood on top of the AFL ladder.
