AFL star facing sanction for alleged bet involving own team
Young Collingwood star Jaidyn Stephenson faces the prospect of a lengthy AFL ban and large fine if found guilty of betting on a game he played in.
The incident – understood to involve a wager of less than $50 – is being investigated by the AFL Integrity Unit.
AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan refused to comment on the matter on Tuesday.
"I'm not going to make any comment about anything that may or not be before the integrity department," he told reporters.
Collingwood and the AFL Players’Association are yet to comment on the situation.

Tough to believe the reports of Jaidyn Stephenson placing a bet of under $50 on a Collingwood game he played in. No doubt the club will support him and I hope he's back playing soon, Pies and BT won't be the same without him. #spaceman

Eight years ago, former Magpie and current GWS defender Heath Shaw was banned for eight matches for backing ex-Collingwood teammate Nick Maxwell to kick the first goal of a game.
Current Pies defender Jack Crisp was fined $5000 in 2015 over a multibet he placed on matches the previous season, having admitted he "forgot" the rules about players betting on footy.
In 2017, Jake Melksham was fined $10,000 in the wake of an AFL investigation into suspicious activity on his betting account.
