Adam McKay’s non-profit Yellow Dot Studios has released several videos across social media over the past week for their #ImWithScience campaign, but the most viral one yet is a “Game of Thrones” parody video starring Rainn Wilson (“The Office”) and the “Game of Thrones” cast.
In the four-minute video, titled “A Tale of Fire and Ice,” Wilson is a climate scientist brought in from the future to warn the Westeros Court, consisting of Queen Cersai (Lena Headey), Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) and Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) about the dangers of “Big Oil.”

In his presentation, Wilson charts the effects of oil pollution since the creation of Exxon in the ’70s: “They bought the politicians and the media to spread lies about the very science that they knew to be true because….profit!” he rages to the unamused court.
“Science, like everything else these days has been grotesquely politicized,” Wilson said in a statement about his involvement in Yellow Dot’s #ImWithScience campaign. “Climate catastrophe is the biggest test our crazy, fragile species has ever faced.”
The campaign, running from Jan. 22-26, consists of several videos across social media directing viewers to a webpage that shares what scientists are saying, and provides resources for people to follow and amplify scientists, as well as join advocacy groups. The “Tale of Fire and Ice” video has garnered more than 1.6 million views over the course of 24 hours.
“Scientists don’t own TV News stations or have to ability to give televised speeches whenever they want,” McKay said in a statement. “But what they’re trying to tell us needs to be amplified and understood. Don’t stand with big oil and their lobbying and advertising money. Stand with science.”
