Aberdeen 1-2 Rangers: Rachel Rowe double secures win that stretches SWPL lead

Rangers stretched their lead at the top of the Scottish Women's Premier League to six points after a Rachel Rowe double secured a win away to Aberdeen.

The Dons proved stubborn hosts and had been rarely threatened until Rowe fired the opener from distance after 34 minutes.

The Wales forward slotted the second shortly before the break.

Bayley Hutchison stunned the league leaders with a reply early in the second half.

The striker pounced on a mistake by Rangers goalkeeper Jenna Fife for her 14th goal of the season.

However, while the hosts were brave in defence thereafter, the Dons rarely looked like rescuing a point.

Rangers stretch their lead over Celtic, who lost 1-0 away to Glasgow City, with the reigning champions moving to within two points of the visitors.

Meanwhile, the defeat ends Aberdeen's outside of hopes of finishing in the top six with four games to go before the SWPL splits for the final games of the season.
