Perth's Blair Evans and fellow Aussies Katie Goldman and Melissa Gorman qualified for the final of tomorrow night's 800m in the heats this morning.
Evans, in the same heat as English champion Rebecca Adlington, qualified in sixth place.
Adlington, the reigning Olympic 400m and 800m champion, took a leisurely path to victory, clocking 8mins35.82sec, well shy of the world record of 8mins.14.10secs she set in Beijing when she beat Janet Evans long-standing mark.
Evans, with the third fastest time in the Commonwealth this year, was four seconds adrift of the world champion.
The Western Bulldogs have broken a 62 year hoodoo by beating the Sydney Swans by 89-67 to claim a thrilling win in the AFL grand final.
