Today's MLB DFS Picks: Top values for DraftKings, FanDuel daily fantasy baseball contests

We have an excellent 12-game MLB DFS slate on Tuesday night that features some excellent pitching options at the top, headlined by Corey Kluber, Shohei Ohtani, and Patrick Corbin taking the mound. There are also plenty of stacking options with multiple gas-can pitchers also in play. As long as the weather holds up, there will be plenty of potential picks for DraftKings and FanDuel contests.

Today's MLB DFS Picks: Top values for DraftKings, FanDuel daily fantasy baseball contests

The two highest projected run totals belong to the Astros and Brewers at 5.1 and 5.0 runs, respectively. The A’s and the Dodgers are two other teams with high totals, with both sitting at 4.8 runs, and should go lower owned than the Astros or Brewers bats. It also looks like after seemingly every slate in the early part of the season has been affected by weather this season that we’ll finally have a night where everything will play.

MLB DFS Picks: FanDuel, DraftKings values for Tuesday, April 17

Yonny Chirinos, P, Rays vs. Rangers (DK: $4,700, FD: $6,000)

Chirinos is by far the best pitching value of the slate and is virtually a must-play at this price as your SP2 on DraftKings. He has flashed great strikeout upside so far this season with 12 punchouts in 14 innings of work. The matchup tonight is also great, as the Rangers are striking out at a rate of over 25 percent so far in 2018. You probably don’t need to go there on FanDuel, but Chirinos is in play if you really want to spend all the way for multiple Astros, Angels, or Dodgers.

Christian Villanueva, 3B, Padres vs. Dodgers (DK: $3,300, FD: $3,600)

Villanueva has gone deep in three straight games and is in another good spot tonight against Dodgers lefty Alex Wood. Wood has struggled a bit since a strong first half in 2017, and Villanueva has taken a liking to lefthanded pitching in his short time in the majors, posting an absurd (and unsustainable) .632 wOBA against southpaws over his past 50 at-bats. This isn’t a good spot to stack the Padres, but Villanueva makes for a great one-off play and is cash-game viable on DraftKings at $3,300.

C.J. Cron, 1B, Rays vs. Rangers (DK: $2,800, FD: $2,800)

Cron was a popular value option last night against a lefthanded pitcher, and I’ll be going right back to the well tonight in another matchup with a lefty in Matt Moore. Cron has posted a .319 wOBA over his past 50 at-bats and Moore is giving up a poor .341 wOBA against righthanded hitters over his past 50 times facing them. The Rays as a whole are extremely cheap and are a great stack or mini-stack option if you pair Corey Kluber with another high-priced pitcher.

Preston Tucker, OF, Braves vs. Phillies (DK: $2,800, FD: $3,200)

The Braves are a sneaky team to target tonight against righty Nick Pivetta. They will likely roll out six lefthanded bats against Pivetta, who is giving up a .310 wOBA to lefties over his past four starts. Tucker is very much a boom-or-bust option but offers great upside at his price point. Tucker and the rest of the Braves outside of Freddie Freeman and maybe Ozzie Albies are best suited as low-owned tournament options on tonight’s large slate.
