Webb Simpson is making a late charge up the leaderboard Sunday at Augusta National.
Simpson, a former U.S. Open champion, began the final round of the Masters at 3 over for the tournament, but consecutive eagles on the par-4 seventh hole and the par-5 eighth hole got him back into red figures.
After holing out from the fairway on the seventh — from 166 yards out — Simpson played the eighth perfectly to get to 2 under for the tournament. He shot a 5-under 31 on the front nine.
Simpson has never recorded a top-10 finish in six tries at Augusta National, but he moved into a tie for 16th when he made the turn.
