Last week Manziel was at the University of San Diego's pro day, where he threw publicly for the first time since he was on the Browns.
"I think I've changed drastically. I've obviously had to hit a series of lows to get to a point where I feel comfortable in my own skin, in my own life and with where I'm at. A lot has changed personally in what I've learned about myself and what I've learned about life through the highs and the lows," Manziel said. "So I don't necessarily think I'd be where I am today without going through some of the harder stuff, but I feel like I'm a better person because of it even if it derailed what I wanted to do for a while."
Manziel, 25, will likely feel comfortable in College Station, since he started for Texas A&M from 2012-13 before deciding to head to the NFL. After two seasons with the Browns, a slew of off-field issues warranted Manziel's release from the team. He hasn't been signed to an NFL team since 2016.
Over the past few months, Manziel has been preparing for a comeback as he intends to play in the Spring League, a developmental league in Austin, Texas beginning later this month. His rights are currently held by the CFL's Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
