Kiwis Andy Maloney and Josh Junior are in solid positions after the second day of sailing's Finn European Championships in Spain.
Maloney is ninth and Junior 11th after Tuesday's racing (local time) in Cadiz, with the former just 10 points off third-placed Argentine Facundo Olezza.
Junior is another two points behind Maloney but can look forward to a surge up the leaderboard when his worst result, a 43rd, is discarded at the end of racing.
More than 90 boats are partaking in the Cadiz meet.
"It was another difficult day to read the wind and predict what was the next move," Maloney said after finishing 15th and 24th in Tuesday's races.
"Getting off the start line well was again crucial.
"I sailed okay but need to iron out a few things."
Kiwi compatriot Brendan McCarty, meanwhile, is in 24th place.
