Michigan vs. Michigan State to be played at night for first time

Michigan and Michigan State have played 109 times since 1898, but none of those games has kicked off in prime time.

That will change Oct. 7, when this year's edition of the rivalry game will begin at 7:30 p.m. ET from Michigan Stadium, the schools announced Monday.

In addition to bucking more than a century of intrastate tradition with that start time, this will only be the fourth night home game ever at the Big House in Ann Arbor. The most recent came in October 2014 against Penn State, and Michigan had never played a prime-time home game before 2011.

Michigan added in its announcement that game-day parking lots will open at noon, giving Wolverines and Spartans alike plenty of time to get revved up before kickoff.
