De'Andre Johnson, the quarterback featured on the Netflix series "Last Chance U," was admitted to the hospital last week with two blood clots in his arm.
According to a Facebook post by his father, Johnson went into surgery on Sept. 7.
Johnson, who signed with FAU after a stint at East Mississippi Community College, did not travel with the team to Madison to play Wisconsin last week.
According to FAU coach Lane Kiffin, Johnson was still in the hospital as of Monday and it's unclear if he will play again this season.
“It was pretty scary,” Kiffin said, via the Sun-Sentinel.
Johnson originally signed to play at Florida State, but was kicked off the team after he punched a woman at a bar near campus. He went to EMCC before transferring to FAU over the summer.
He played in the FAU's season opener against Navy, but was limited due to a leg injury. Kiffin did not say whether the injury was related to the blood clots.
