College World Series Finals 2017: Live updates, highlights from LSU-Florida Game 2

Florida baseball has made history.

The Gators won their first College World Series title in 103 seasons, beating LSU 6-1 in a sweep to take home a well-deserved national title trophy.

MORE: Recapping Florida's thrilling Game 1 win

Much like in Game 1, pitching dominated the Gators' winning effort, as freshman Tyler Dyson pitched the Gators to a lead with 6 IP, 3 hits, 1 earned run, 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. He is credited with the win and Player of the Game honors.

But Dyson didn't win the Gators' first College World Series for the Gators alone: Here are all the highlights from the game (all times Eastern):

Top 9th

11:34 p.m.: What else needs to be said?

11:30 p.m.: View from the Florida dugout:

11:28 p.m.: And that does it! Brea Jordan is thrown out at first, and Gators have made history.

11:27 p.m.: Gators are one out away from history. ...

11:26 p.m.: Michael Papierski grounds out to shortstop, but Breaux advances to third. Breau Jordan up to bat.

11:25 p.m.: Chris Reid, on to pinch hit for Jake Slaughter, singles to center. Brennan Breaux in to pinch run. LSU has one out.

11:24 p.m.: Seems Tyler Dyson will win Player of the Game honors if the Gators can pull this one out.

11:23 p.m.: Josh Smith lines out to left field. Gators are two outs away from winning this one.

Bottom 8th

11:21 p.m.: Nelson Maldonado flys out to centerfield, but the damage has been done: Florida scores four runs, and seems to have an insurmountable 6-1 lead heading into the top of the ninth.

11:20 p.m.: JJ Schwarz, whose incredible throw prevented the tying run in the top of the eighth, sac flys to centerfield, scoring Nick Horvath. 6-1 Florida.

11:19 p.m.: Dalton Guthrie singles, loading the bases for Florida with one out.

11:18 p.m.: Florida seems to know the position it's in:

11:16 p.m.: Back at the top of the lineup, Deacon Liput singles to center to score two runs in Austin Langworthy and Andrew Baker. It's 5-1 Gators, and that might just be enough for Florida to get its first College World Series title.

11:15 p.m.: Nick Horvath is hit by a pitch, walking in Jonathan India. it's 3-1 Gators.

11:13 p.m.: Christian Hicks intentionally walked. Now Andrew Baker is in to pinch run for the Gators at first. Bases loaded, no outs for Florida. Anything outside the infield could result in a run.

11:12 p.m.: Mike Rivera gets the sac bunt, advancing Jonathan India and Austin Langworthy to second and third, respectively. One out for the Gators with Christian Hicks up to bat as a pinch hitter in place of Ryan Larson.

11:10 p.m.: Zack Hess walks Austin Langworthy with the full count. Gators now have two runners on base with no outs.

11:06 p.m.: Jonathan India gets his second hit of the night, a double, to start the eighth inning. Extra runs for the Gators would be a killer for LSU here.

Top 8th

11:04 p.m.: Final line for Michael Byrne now that Jackwon Kowar has taken over: 1.1 IP, 4 hits, 1 strikeout.

11:03 p.m.: LSU is frustrated again: Zach Watson lines out to centerfield, and LSU has two runners stranded on base. Another opportunity to tie the game eludes the Tigers.

11:01 p.m.: Umpires reviewing the play to make sure Kramer Robertson tagged out at home. And they confirm it.

11 p.m.: Kramer Robertson thrown out at home on fielder's choice from JJ Schwartz (Greg Deichmann reaches first). LSU has runners on first and second with two outs. Gators with a great play right there.

10:56 p.m.: Jackson Kowar, slated to start Game 3 for the Gators if necessary, is now in in relief of Michael Byrne. He'll throw on three days' rest.

10:55 p.m.: Antoine Duplantis strikes out swinging to get the first out of the inning. He is 0 for 4 at the plate today.

10:54 p.m.: Here's that Cole Freeman speed on display:

10:53 p.m.: It's getting awfully loud at TD Ameritrade Park:

10:52 p.m.: Cole Freeman showcases some serious speed with an infield single — LSU has runners on the corners with no outs and once again LSU looks like it's in business.

10:51 p.m.: Kramer Robertson advances to second off a wild pitch from Michael Byrne. There's still plenty of hope for LSU.

10:49 p.m.: Kramer Robertson barely bloops a ball over second baseman Deacon Liput to single.

10:48 p.m.: LSU back to the top of the order to start the eighth inning. This could be their best shot.

Bottom 7th

10:45 p.m.: Nelson Maldonado walked, but then picked off. Great heads-up play from Zack Hess to see him with the too-long lead. Off to the eighth we go.

10:44 p.m.: Quick attendance note: Florida and LSU fans have set a College World Series record.

10:43 p.m.: Anyway, JJ Schwarz grounds out to first. Zack Hess is looking very impressive in relief.

10:42 p.m.: Potential pitching change for Florida upcoming: Jackson Kowar is warming up in the bullpen. Michael Byrne gave up two hits in his first trip the mound, allowing Zach Watson to score (the run is credited to Tyler Dyson).

10:40 p.m.: Dalton Guthrie with an infield fly to start the seventh inning.

Top 7th

10:36 p.m. Beau Jordan gets the hardest-hit ball of the night for the Tigers, right into centerfielder Nick Horvath's glove. Terrible way to end the inning, but the Tigers do trim the lead to 2-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh. Once again, errors cost LSU.

10:35 p.m.: Beau Jordan is up to bat. Can he get these Tigers back in gear?

10:32 p.m.: Terrible, terrible news for LSU: Gators get the 4-6-3 double play — and the tying run was called back to third because of runner interference from Jake Slaughter at second. LSU has two outs and the tying run at third, but Florida has sucked the wind from these Tigers.

10:30 p.m.: Jake Slaughter reaches base for the second time this game, singling to left, advancing Josh Smith to third. LSU has runners on the corners and you can see doubt creeping in Michael Byrne's face.

10:28 p.m.: It's starting to rain in Omaha. The last thing ANYONE wants in Omaha is rain.

10:25 p.m.: Josh Smith rips an RBI-double to finally get LSU on the board. It's 2-1 Gators, but the Tigers have all the momentum with no outs and the tying run on second.

10:24 p.m.: Zach Watson steals second on a called strike two against Smith.

10:23 p.m.: Very impressive outing from freshman Tyler Dyson in only his fourth start this season: 6 IP, 3 hits, 1 earned run, 2 walks, 2 strikeouts.

10:21 p.m.: Michael Byrne is on in relief of Tyler Dyson.

10:19 p.m.: Tyler Dyson gets behind 2-0 in the count against Josh Smith with Zach Watson on first. That might be it for the freshman Dyson.

10:18 p.m.: Zach Watson with an infield single to start the seventh for LSU. Here we go.

Bottom 6th

10:14 p.m.: Zack Hess looking good against his first batter: Got him swinging to end the inning.

10:11 p.m.: Zack Hess has 11 strikeouts, one hit and no earned runs in this World Series. Can he pull LSU through for a victory?

10:08 p.m.: LSU closer Zack Hess comes on in relief of Jared Poche. His final line, barring a score from Mike Rivera at second: 5.2 IP, 7 hits, 2 runs (unearned), 1 walk, 3 strikeouts.

10:07 p.m.: Nick Horvath is out with a called strike three. Jared Poche with his third strikeout of the game.

10:05 p.m.: Ryan Larson gets the sac bunt to advance Rivera to second. Gators with one out and one runner in scoring position.

10:04 p.m.: Jared Poche's clean streak is over after Mike Rivera singles to center.

Top 6th

10:01 p.m.: And now Greg Deichmann flies out to center. Those have been killer for the LSU offense through six innings.

10 p.m.: Tyler Dyson is absolutely shutting down the Tigers' offense. He gets his second K of the night on Antoine Duplantis.

9:57 p.m.: Nothing doing for Cole Freeman to start the sixth. He grounds out to second.

Bottom 5th

9:55 p.m.: Austin Langworthy out at first to end the inning. Another clean outing for Jared Poche.

9:53 p.m.: LSU gets two quick outs from Nelson Maldonado and Jonathan India to start the inning.

Top 5th

9:51 p.m.: Tyler Dyson seems quite pleased with his handiwork in the fifth. His line so far: 5 IP, 2 hits, 0 runs, 3 walks and 1 strikeout (63 pitches, 42 strikes).

9:49 p.m.: Kramer Robertson thrown out at first, stranding Jake Slaughter at third. Another missed opportunity for the Tigers.

9:47 p.m.: Beau Jordan is also thrown out at first, but Slaughter advances to third. All it takes is one pitch to make this a one-score game.

9:45 p.m.: Michael Papierski thrown out at first, but Slaughter advances to second.

9:42 p.m.: Jake Slaughter, on in place Nick Coomes, is walked on a full count to start the inning. Quite a roar from the LSU faithful.

Bottom 4th

9:37 p.m.: Josh Smith gets the out from third base, giving Jared Poche his first 1-2-3 of this game. Can the Tigers capitalize on that in the second?

9:35 p.m.: Dalton Guthrie flies out to third base. Two up, two down for Jared Poche.

9:33 p.m.: Deacon Liput flies out to left to start the bottom of the fourth.

Top 4th

9:31 p.m.: Not a bad line for freshman Tyler Dyson:

9:31 p.m.: Tyler Dyson gets Josh Smith swinging with a 93-mph fastball, ending LSU's scoring threat before it could begin.

9:25 p.m.: Zach Watson flies out to right. Deichmann steals second. How does Tyler Dyson react with a runner in scoring position?

9:24 p.m.: Greg Deichmann walked.

9:22 p.m.: Meanwhile, back in play, Antoine Duplantis flies out to center field. One out for the Tigers in the top of the fourth. Definitely seeing some frustration in the dugout.

9:21 p.m.: LSU coach Paul Mainieri on Jared Poche getting out with bases loaded: "He's done it his whole career, it's what he does."

Bottom 3rd

9:18 p.m.: An infield fly from Tyler Dyson ends the Gators scoring threat. Credit to the Tigers: Despite their bad defensive outing thus far, they have stranded seven Florida base runners, including five in scoring position.

9:16 p.m.: Nick Horvath up 3-0 in the count with bases loaded.

9:15 p.m.: Ryan Larson next batter up, but is struck out looking. Tense moment here with two outs and bases loaded in bottom of the third.

9:12 p.m.: And now we see an intentional walk for Florida's Mike Rivera to load the bases. He ranks fifth on the team with 28 RBIs this season.

9:11 p.m.: Austin Langworthy is thrown out at first, but Nelson Maldonado and Jonathan India advance to third and second, respectively. Gators with runners in scoring position with one out.

9:07 p.m.: Florida already with six hits. Jonathan India keeps it going with a single to left. The Gators have two on base with no outs.

9:06 p.m.: Position change for LSU: Jake Slaughter is in at first base for Nick Coomes, who has been credited with two errors. Meanwhile, Nelson Maldonado singles to center.

Top 3rd

9:02 p.m.: Balls don't leave the infield for LSU in the third: It's 1-2-3 for Beau Jordan, Kramer Robertson and Cole Freeman. Up next for Florida, Nelson Maldonado (0-1), Jonathan India (0-1) India and Austin Langworthy (0-1).

9:01 p.m.: Beau Jordan rips one to center field, but it's caught on the run by Florida. One out Tigers.

8:59 p.m.: The umps convene between innings to make sure Coomes wasn't actually off the bag when he made the catch at first. Consensus: The right call was made. Make the call for yourself:

Bottom 2nd

8:56 p.m.: Nick Coomes is forced to perform nearly a full split to get the last out of the inning at first. Definitely not a good defensive outing from LSU, but it only results in one run. Florida can credit its 2-0 lead to LSU's three errors.

8:53 p.m.: ANOTHER error from LSU, this time from third baseman Josh Smith. Dalton Guthrie reaches, and Florida has runners on first and second. Florida up 2-0,

8:52 p.m.: Gators capitalize on another mistake from LSU. Deacon Liput singles to center, scoring Nick Horvath from second.

8:51 p.m.: Another potentially costly mistake for LSU as they allow Nick Horvath to advance to second on a bobbled throw from Nick Coomes. LSU had the pickoff ready.

8:50 p.m.: Florida gets it, though they don't have anything to complain about.

8:49 p.m.: Nick Horvath singles to left — how big is that previous out for the Tigers now?

8:48 p.m.: LSU avoids disaster in center field as Zach Watson and Greg Deichmann fail to call a pop fly from Ryan Larson. Two outs.

8:47 p.m.: So far so good for Jared Poche: Florida's Mike Rivera flies out to right to start the inning.

8:45 p.m.: Back to work for Jared Poche — will he rebound from his inauspicious start?

Top 2nd

8:43 p.m.: Michael Papierski with another good rip, but that wind blew it dead center. Tigers have to be cursing the wind as they head to the bottom of the second still down 1-0.

8:41 p.m.: Nick Coomes reaches after the ball stays inside the foul line. Tigers with two outs, one on base as Michael Papierski comes to the plate.

8:39 p.m.: Josh Smith gets a good rip on the ball, but Austin Langworthy fields it perfectly in left center. It's worth noting the wind is blowing heavily mph toward home plate right now.

8:38 p.m.: Zach Watson slaps a hopper to the shortstop and is thrown out at first.

Bottom 1st

8:35 p.m.: Antoine Duplantis does a good job of getting the inning-ending, run-saving out in left field with the sun in his eyes. Jared Poche, meanwhile, has to feel lucky for his defense after giving up three straight singles to start the game. Florida strands two base runners, but is up 1-0 heading to the second.

8:30 p.m.: Jared Poche gets his first K of the game from Jonathan India. Can the Tigers minimize the damage in the first?

8:28 p.m.: Greg Deichmann makes a potential run-saving catch in right field — Dalton Guthrie and JJ Schwartz advance to second and third, respectively.

8:25 p.m.: JJ Schwarz gets Florida's third consecutive single of the game, scoring Liput. Gators up 1-0, and Jared Poche is already getting a talking-to on the mound.

8:23 p.m.: Gators are in business early as Dalton Guthrie rips a single to center, advancing Liput to third. Two men on base, one in scoring position, and no outs. Not looking good for the Tigers early.

8:22 p.m.: Deacon Liput reaches base after LSU struggles to field a grounder.

Top 1st

8:16 p.m.: Antoine Duplantis, who got the Tigers on the board in Game 1, flies out. Greg Deichmann follows up with a foul out. It's still early, but LSU will likely be counting their missed opportunities if they don't get ahead early.

8:14 p.m.: Cole Freeman gets a one-out single after getting a grounder past third baseman Jonathan India. LSU with a runner on base.

8:12 p.m.: And we're underway!

8:06 p.m.: Florida, meanwhile, is taking things nice and slow ahead of game time.

8:02 p.m.: It's do-or-die time for LSU.

7:37 p.m.: The starting lineups for LSU and Florida:
