Cricket: New Zealand's Ronchi announces international retirement

Luke Ronchi has announced his retirement from international cricket, bringing the curtain down on a career that saw him represent Australia and New Zealand.

The 36-year-old played in four one-day internationals and three Twenty20s for Australia, before going on to make 81 ODI and 29 T20 appearances for his native Black Caps.

Ronchi's top ODI score was an unbeaten 170 against Sri Lanka in 2015, while his last appearance came against Bangladesh in the ICC Champions Trophy this month.

"It was a dream come true," said Ronchi of his New Zealand career, which saw him help the side through to the World Cup final two years ago.

"I can't think of a better time to have been involved with New Zealand cricket. From the 2015 World Cup campaign, through to the overseas tours of that time and some amazing games and series, it's been a genuine highlight for me."

Ronchi will still ply his trade for the Wellington Firebirds.
