Bobby Motaung: Who said Kaizer Chiefs want Pienaar and Claasen?

Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung has poured could water on reports that the club is looking to sign Steven Pienaar and Daylon Claasen ahead of next season.

The two South Africa internationals will soon become free agents, and media reports have already been suggesting that Amakhosi are keen to lure them to Naturena.

“Who said we that these players?” asked Motaung in an interview with Isolezwe. “If you say it’s Komphela then it is better you ask him,” said the Amakhosi football manager.

“Here at Chiefs we have a way of doing things. We will announce on our official website or social media platforms if we have signed anyone. I urge you guys to be patient. When we are done with all the signings, we will call a press conference,” he continued.

Motaung’s remarks are not surprising at all, as Goal reported last week that Chiefs never expressed interest in Pienaar and Claasen, but that their agent (Lance Davids) is the one who contacted Steve Komphela, asking him if he would be interested in the two midfielders.

Meanwhile, Motaung confirmed that the club is monitoring the market with a view to strengthen their current squad, especially having confirmed that at least seven players will be leaving them next term.

“As a big team, I think it makes sense that we’re monitoring the market at this time of the season,” concluded Motaung.
