NHL: Predators forward Fiala suffers broken leg, out for rest of Stanley Cup playoffs

Nashville Predators forward Kevin Fiala will miss the rest of the Stanley playoffs after suffering a broken left leg.

Fiala was in an awkward crash into the boards during the second period of Wednesday's second-round playoff game against the Blues in St. Louis.

The 20-year-old rookie from Switzerland was chasing the puck when he tangled with Blues defenseman Robert Bortuzzo and slid awkwardly into the boards behind the Blues net. HIs left leg first made contact with the boards, and Fiala immediately began writhing in pain.

The game was paused with 18:14 remaining in the second period and the Predators holding a 1-0 lead. Fiala eventually was taken off the ice on a gurney and transported to the hospital.

The Predators won the game, 4-3, to take a 1-0 series lead.
