IPL: Rain forces RCB-Sunrisers abandonment

Rain forces RCB-Sunrisers abandonment

The scheduled repeat of last season's Indian Premier League final between Royal Bangalore Challengers and Sunrisers Hyderabad was abandoned on Tuesday due to heavy rain.

Awful weather conditions at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium meant no play was possible between two of the pre-season favourites for the competition, the officials delaying the start of the match as long as possible.

The abandonment means both sides are given a point, with Sunrisers in third and RCB third-bottom of the table after being bowled out for an IPL record low score of 49 in their last match against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Sunrisers won last year's final by eight runs thanks to David Warner's 69, with 50s from Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli unable to get RCB to the total of 208 for 7, and Sunrisers beat RCB again in the first match of this year's IPL.
