Masters 2017: Bubba Watson apologizes: 'I made a bad joke, just like I played bad golf'
Bubba Watson was quick to apologize Friday, after appearing to unintentionally offend journalists with a post-round comment after he missed the cut at the Masters.
A two-time winner of the year's first major, Watson failed to make the weekend at Augusta for the first time in his career as he followed up an opening 74 with a 6-over 78 in Round 2.
Watson subsequentlycame in forcriticismon social media after he was quoted as telling a reporter: "Golf is tough; I don'tknow if you’ve ever played it. But writing articles is easy."
Yet Bubba swiftly tweeted an attempt to clear things up, insisting he was merely trying to make a joke.
"I love all journalists," said Watson. "Obviously I made a bad joke, just like I played bad golf this week!"
Apologies for my bad attempt at a joke today... my jokes as bad as my golf this week! pic.twitter.com/T6hVOBvcpV
