The 2017 NFL Draft is here, and top draft prospects are eager to make an impact in the NFL.

In total, 253 players will be drafted from April 27 through April 29, with the Browns starting the NFL Draft with the top overall pick.

This year's NFL Draft will take place in Philadelphia for the first time since 1961 and outdoors for the first time in the event's history, on the famous "Rocky Steps" no less.

Here’s everything you need to know about the 2017 NFL Draft.


When is the 2017 NFL Draft?


The 2017 NFL Draft will take place over three days, from Thursday, April 27 through Saturday, April 29.

Round 1 will take place April 27; Rounds 2-3 will take place April 28; and Rounds 4-7 will take place April 29.

Rounds 2-3: 7 p.m. ET, Friday, April 28

Rounds 4-7: Noon ET, Saturday, April 29




Where is the 2017 NFL Draft?


The 2017 NFL Draft will be held in Philadelphia, the third city in four years to host the event.

Chicago hosted the 2015 and '16 drafts, and New York hosted it in the 50 years prior.

Philadelphia, which hosted the inaugural draft in 1936, has not seen the event since 1961.

NFL Draft rules


Teams will be given 10 minutes apiece to make their first-round selections on the day the draft starts. For the second round, that time decreases to seven minutes, and again to five minutes for Rounds 3-7.



If the time expires before a team submits its pick, the next team up can begin to submit their choice, but the team whose time has expired can submit their selection at any point. Teams can trade their selections at any time.
