Hilarity unfolds as legends match descends into head tennis

Four tennis greats resembled a quartet of pantomime professionals during the Legends doubles match at the Australian Open.

Pat Cash, Goran Ivanisevic, John and younger brother Patrick McEnroe had Rod Laver Arena in hysterics during their clash after the men's semi-final on Thursday night.

Cash and Ivanisevic teamed up against the Americans and the laughs were flowing thick and fast in just the third game of the match.

Ivanisevic began tormenting the Americans by hitting a series of lobs while sarcastically urging the brothers to keep the rally going.

"Hit the ball John... come on and again," the Croatian yelled out as the American pair strained to get to the ball.

"Yours, mine, no I got it," John McEnroe screamed as both brothers chased after a lobbed shot heading for the baseline.

John managed to return the ball to Ivanisevic, who then decided to take the match on an even more hilarious path.

The big Croat sent the return back over the other side of the net with his head, prompting a similar response from John.

A mini game of head tennis broke out as Cash got involved as well, with Ivanisevic showing off his football skills at one point with an impressive volley.

Eventually, all four men decided to start using their racquets again, and an epic rally followed that Cash and Ivanisevic finally won.

"Someone's going to do a hamstring here," the commentator remarked as raucous laughter boomed out from the stands.

The McEnroe's may have lost the point but they took home bragging rights with a 2-4 4-3 4-2 victory.
