Superstar footballer Lionel Messi and basketball legend Kobe Bryant have gone head-to-head in the battle for one child's affection in a cheeky marketing spot for a European airline.

Balloon animals, some skillful ball juggling and a house of cards are all used to try and convince the young traveller to accept a signature from either Messi or Bryant.

However, the eventual winner uses a tactic that is both cheap and delicious. That's right - ice-cream. A nearby hostess presents the kid with a plate full of sugary treats and the battle is off.

Messi is estimated to earn upwards of $400,000 a week while Bryant is close to $300,000, so this might be the most expensive spoof in history.
