Kidman channels Hepburn at Victoria Derby

Nicole Kidman stole the show at the Victoria Derby this morning, but it seems she may also have 'borrowed' her look.

On a filming break from playing another classic beauty in Grace of Monaco, Kidman was clearly inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s famous Ascot outfit from the film My Fair Lady.

"I'm really happy to be here,” Kidman told jostling trackside reporters.

“I do quite like the races and in previous years I have been to Randwick but never to Melbourne, so it was well worth the effort because it is a first for me."

Kidman’s modern interpretation of the Eliza Doolittle dress was designed by L'Wren Scott, and her hat, from British milliner Stephen Jones, was in fact made from recycled plastic waste – Henry Higgins would be shocked.

Kidman will grace Melbourne for just a few more hours, jetting back to France to continue filming on Monaco after the races.

And for those hoping for a tip from the Fair Lady, best to look elsewhere.

Kidman demurred, "I'm really not very good at it, so I won't be expecting a big win today."
