Jonathan Brown injured in road accident

Three-time Premiership player Jonathan Brown was the victim of an early morning road accident that left the Brisbane Lions captain nursing another injury.

While training near the Gold Coast on his bike, a car collided with Brown in the Currumbin Valley.

Brown, 30, was still capable of walking after the accident, but ambulance were called to the scene and he was taken to hospital where he was treated for an elbow injury.

The car however, was not so lucky. The old vehicle, believed to be a Hyundai, needed to be towed.

The Coleman Medallist’s bicycle was destroyed in the incident.

Brown notified the club soon after and shared details about the accident.

"Brisbane Lions can confirm captain, Jonathan Brown, was involved in an accident with a vehicle while riding his bike on the Gold Coast early this morning," the club said in a statement.

"Brown was riding with a group of about 20 cyclists.

"He was taken a nearby hospital where he had a thorough check up - including scans - and was cleared of any serious injury.

"He received 10 stitches to an elbow."

The collision and subsequent injury is yet another unfortunate event in Brown’s career of late.

A run of bad luck in recent seasons has seen the towering forward sustain a series of unlucky injuries, which have all required extensive treatment.
