Hawthorn star Cyril Rioli has been ruled out of action for at least a fortnight with a shoulder injury and may not return until the first week of the finals.
Rioli hurt his shoulder during the second quarter of the Hawks' 72-point victory over Port Adelaide on Sunday and was subbed out of the game at half-time.
Scans on Monday showed bone bruising to the scapula and deep muscle bleeding around the nerve and the Hawks expect Rioli to be sidelined for approximately 2-3 weeks.
"We will be in better position to determine a timeline for Cyril's return when the injury has settled and he resumes training," Hawthorn's general manager of football operations Mark Evans said.
"Cyril will progress over the next few weeks as function in his shoulder allows."
The injury news at Hawthorn was much better for Josh Gibson, with the veteran defender cleared of any major damage to his ankle.
