7th Tackle: Another cocaine blow for Cronulla

The tired line denying that rugby league has a recreational drug story is starting to ring very hollow.

With chairman Damien Keogh and Under 20s player Jesse Savage charged with cocaine possession over the weekend, Cronulla has carried the brunt of an ugly run of headlines.

Another Sharks player returned a second positive in-house test last year. Just as Ben Barba did after last year's grand final, 20-year-old Jayden Walker copped a 12-week ban from the NRL for his second strike.

It was served last season, while the second rower was still playing Holden Cup. He's now returned to action and is regular starter for NSW Cup feeder side Newtown.

Walker's profile on Cronulla's official website only makes a vague reference to his absence, stating that he "missed some football over the past two seasons".

The club yesterday lost it's back-of-jersey sponsor Infinity Group – worth $700,000-a-season – as a result of the latest scandals.
