5 TikTok oatmeal recipes that are next level delicious

Oatmeal is a breakfast staple for good reason. It’s quick, cheap, easy to make and oh so versatile. But it’s easy to get stuck in an oatmeal rut. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to make oatmeal sing, whether it’s through toppings or a special cooking technique. Here are five recipes that add a little flair to your go-to bowl of oatmeal.

  1. Crème brûlée oatmeal (vegan, gluten-free)

This recipe is sure to level up any boring breakfast bowl. TikTok creator @veggiekins cooks her oats, and once they’re boiling adds some plant-based milk, vanilla bean paste, maple syrup and optional protein powder. Once the oats are done, pour them into a bowl and sprinkle some sugar on top. Then fire up the blowtorch! If you don’t have a blowtorch, you can broil your oats in the oven to get the hardened texture on the surface. You deserve dessert for breakfast.

2. Savory miso broth oatmeal (gluten-free)

If you’re not a sweets person, savory oatmeal is for you. This unexpected miso broth oatmeal recipe is super hearty and delicious. TikTok creator @winnyhayes cooks her oatmeal in miso broth to make it salty from the start. Then she cooks up protein — mild Italian sausage and two eggs — and assembles. Top with some sesame oil, sesame seeds, chili paste and green onion, and you’re all set!

3. Pesto spinach oats (gluten-free)

Another savory option, this recipe from @kyliekooks on TikTok incorporates your favorite herb-y sauce into breakfast. Chop up some spinach, and cook it with your oats. Schmear some pesto on top, and add a soft-boiled egg (or whatever style you prefer) and some sliced cherry tomatoes. Sprinkle your favorite savory spices on top — think salt, pepper, paprika and chili flakes — and you’ve got yourself a pesto-licious savory breakfast.

4. Baked cinnamon roll oats (gluten-free, can be vegan with plant-based milk)

Trace Alexander, aka @tracesoats, is the king of Oatmeal TikTok, so you know this recipe is a keeper. He blends half a banana, some milk, oats, chia seeds, maple syrup, a splash of vanilla, a dash of cinnamon, some baking powder and a pinch of salt. He bakes the mixture for 20 to 22 minutes. In the meantime, he makes the glaze by mixing coconut sugar, peanut butter and cinnamon. Once baked, he takes his oats out, spreads the glaze and tops it off with some dairy-free vanilla-flavored yogurt.

5. Apple pie oatmeal (vegan, gluten-free)

Sometimes you need to reward yourself just for getting out of bed, and these apple pie oats from @plantyou on TikTok do exactly that. Just grab an apple, chop it up, and cook it in some maple syrup and cinnamon until soft. Then add your water and oats, and cook until thickened. The oats will absorb all the apple cinnamon flavor to give you a comforting start to the day!
