if''s, but's, maybe's, Jam
Who knows if A-Whiner would have been a 'better' opponent for Djoko & he does he a very good record vs. Djoko....but this is 'now' & several things are clear :-
1. A-Whiner is a fading force & not the player he once was - a huge serve will no longer cover for the multiplying deficencies in his game
2. Gasquet was the better player on the day vs. A-Whiner (acknowledged by A-Whiner himself), so no use saying about being a 'better' opponent. RG earned the right to play Djoko - fair & square
3. The form Djoko is in right now - since start of year - who's to say he wouldn't have blown A-Whiner in the same way he blew away the mercurial RG ???
Was a pity that RG didn't bring anything close to his A-Game to the match vs. Djoko but that's what you get with French tennis players (Noah, Leconte, Tsonga, Monfils, RG etc etc)........ incredible talents & on their day can beat anybody (inc. the very best) - but most days, they are not on their game & that's why they rarely feature in the business end of the big tourneys
