Chiefs make no changes for Brumbies game

AAP - April 1, 2008, 1:25 pm

The Chiefs have predictably retained the same starting 15 who comfortably beat the Highlanders last weekend for their Super 14 rugby match against the Brumbies in Canberra on Friday.

Coach Ian Foster has made only one change to his 22-man squad for the match, with reserve halfback Jamie Nutbrown named on the reserves bench as he marks his return from a knee injury.

Nutbrown sustained the injury during the opening round loss to the Blues in mid-February but has made a quicker than expected recovery to act as the understudy to All Black Brendon Leonard.

Waikato halfback David Bason returns to training squad duties.

Otherwise there are no changes from the side who beat the Highlanders 39-24 in Hamilton.

The eighth round match in Canberra is of special significance for Bay of Plenty prop Simms Davison, who will play his 50th game for the franchise.

Sosene Anesi (ankle) and Jono Gibbes (hamstring) remain unavailable for selection.

Reserves: Aled de Malmanche, Ben May, Jay Williams, Faifili Levave, Jamie Nutbrown, Dwayne Sweeney, Viliame Waqaseduadua.</p>
