Allison Schmitt Biography
Schmitt won a bronze medal in her first Olympics in Beijing, and she'll look to earn more hardware while competing in four events in London. The 22-year-old was part of the 4x200m freestyle relay team that finished third in 2008. Schmitt, who has trained with Michael Phelps in the past, will compete in that same event, along with the 4x100 freestyle relay, 200m freestyle and 400m freestyle at the Games. She finished first in the 200 and 400 at the U.S. Olympic Trials, breaking her own American record in the 200. Schmitt, a four-time NCAA champion, has not turned pro and plans to re-enroll at the University of Georgia after taking a year off to train for the Games.
