Fong Lim and Ah Kit named as Olympic torchbearers

The head of the Australian Day Council in the Northern Territory has been selected to be a torchbearer for the Australian leg of the Olympic torch relay.

Katrina Fong Lim is one of 80 people who'll carry the touch in April.

Young Indigenous leader Ngaree Ah Kit will also represent the Territory.

Canberra is the focus of the Australian leg although the final route is still to be finalised.

Twenty-seven past and present sports people have been selected including Nova Peris, Petria Thomas, Ian Thorpe and Rob de Castella.
