Australia's Olympic soccer team defeated Croatia 3-0 in their opening match at the eight-nation Intercontinental Cup in Kuala Lumpur.
The Olyroos romped home on Friday night with goals to Perth Glory's Nikita Rukavytsya in the 18th minute, Wellington Phoenix player Troy Hearfield in the 52nd and James Troisi 74th.
Coach Graham Arnold was pleased with his players mental attitude and their work rate in hot conditions.
"Croatia are a physical side and we matched them. To win in this fashion was a good start to the tournament," said Arnold.
Chile defeated Togo 5-1 in the other Group B match.
The Australians meet Chile next up on Sunday then Togo to complete the group phase on Tuesday.
Group A comprises host nation Malaysia, Nigeria, Ireland and Iraq.
