BEIJING 2008

It's all Gravey!

Just a quick update.

It’s been a while since my last one, so I thought i should give a bit of a report.

The last 6 weeks since the MTB world champs have been all about getting some last minute prep in place for the games. It’s been almost 2 years since things got real serious to get to this point, so I’m starting to get pretty excited about it all.

I have to apologise to anyone who has been trying to get in touch with me and hasn’t been able to. I've just been getting stuck into being in my training bubble and not wanting to be interrupted too much.

All my bikes are dialed in and ready to go. I have to give a huge thanks to all my sponsors, especially my main sponsor Yeti Cycles for getting me 2 Olympics machines. All sponsors have been great in the lead up to the games and have got me all my gear dialed in!

Training has been going great, the motivation has been through the roof, getting out knowing your training for the Olympics is a really good feeling!

So the plan from now is just some training and relaxing at home, and heading back to Sydney on the 11th for a few days at Madill’s place (Australian BMX rider Luke Madill) again before flying out of Sydney for Beijing on the 15th.

Many people have asked me why we aren’t attending the opening ceremony. And it comes down to the air quality and lack of training facilities for us in China.

We could go for the opening ceremony and stay for the 12 days till we race with no training facilities, or fly home again after the ceremony only to fly back again a few days later, which is way too much energy-sapping travel.

So we’re staying in Australia till the 15th which will give us the best preparation we can get.

Anyways, dinner is cooked, so it's time to eat! Ill be trying to do more regular updates soon.

It’s time to start tapering now, so Ill have more time to type then!

Cheers!

Gravey!

It is going to be very exciting to watch BMX Racing alongside that of the Road Racing and the valedrome events.
To have a previously unknown event compete at the olympics is a great thing it gives the sport credibility.
I hope I am home to watch the race if not to pick up the highlights later and the photos on thsi site.
You have already done Australia Proud by getting there the rest as you say is Gravy.
